More cushioning than an average fell racing shoe plus an aggressive outsole. Therefore it suits as a fell racer or light trail shoe for those who still want some protection rather than one of the completely stripped down models out there.
took a bitof wearing in with quite a bit of abrasion so had to build up slowly to lengthy hill runs. since found grip superb on all surfaces except wet wooden bridges. lightweight and supportive though they look a bit odd at first sight. 3 peaks of yorkshire, mountain marathons, training runs all been a pleasure in these (well kind of a pleasure!)
