The 10th edition delivers of the Saucony Guide provides a running experience with a streamlined midsole design, dynamic engineered mesh upper and TRI-FLEX outsole with enhanced forefoot flexibility. Give the adidas Ultra Boost ST a try for something similar.
The Guide feels light and a quick flex tell you this will be a performance shoe. The stability appears to more than adequate given the upper’s good looking seamless construction.
Saucony really seem to have got a good grip, pardon the pun, on the outsole thanks to Tri-Flex which makes the shoe really flexible and responsive. As with other shoes in the current range, a lot of work has been done on the underfoot layout to make sure stress disperses on contact and you are rewarded with a nice smooth transition as you push off. Support shoes can – but rarely do these days – feel clunky and as you’d expect the Guide definitely doesn’t! The shoe features IBR+ rubber which is located in the forefoot and midfoot for improved traction. The tip of the forefoot, the heel, and other areas use XT-900 carbon rubber for added protection against wear and tear. As with many Saucony shoes, it works off a relatively low heel to toe drop, in this case 8mm.
The upper’s construction is where this shoe really stands out. Our testers loved the mesh upper for its dynamic, contoured fit. It’s lightweight, breathable and ready for a variety of different terrains and conditions. And to make it better, it feels really good as well.
An everyday kind of shoe that can cope with trail as well as road, all the time providing the support and stability an overpronator requires. We liked the cushioning – Saucony have moved this on tremendously – and we love the flexibility and weight.
